Tai chi for health

Ideal exercise...
Tai chi is a popular form of movement-based exercise.
Is tai chi suitable for my medical condition?
We are not qualified (or permitted) to give advice on your unique medical condition.
Preventative health care
Tai chi is best employed whilst healthy, not sick.
3 areas of study
• Qigong
• Form
• Partner work
Long-term health & fitness
Tai chi is joint-friendly, has a low-risk of injury, provides a gentle workout and is sustainable.
Strength, not health
Many new starters are seeking the health benefits of qigong and tai chi. This is understandable. But our onus is upon strength-building and good body use, rather than health.
By-product
Health is a by-product of good alignment, balance, relaxation, mobile joints and functional motor skills. Health improves when you develop new habits and employ them in your everyday life.
Proven results
Sifu Waller taught our qigong and tai chi exercises to the over 50's for 7 years at Age Concern in Newcastle and Age Concern North Tyneside. Our students had a variety of health conditions. We had referrals from Freeman Hospital, medical students visited the class regularly and the classes were featured in the local newspapers.
Benefits
One of the referrals from Freeman Hospital was a rheumatoid arthritis group containing about 15 patients. The tuition was so successful that the group disbanded within a year. Most of the students returned to work and the rest joined the main class.
Worth a try?
The Age Concern students mentioned above just did our 'normal' exercises; they did not receive bespoke, individualised therapy/advice. They simply tried the exercises. And their health improved...
Qualifying for tai chi?
Qigong students can ask to undertake the tai chi syllabus once they have completed their qigong ticksheet.
